A scientific seminar entitled “The Heritage of the Imami School in Basra until the End of the Fifth Century” will be held with the participation of the Research Institute of the Qur’an and Hadith
The seminar is organized in cooperation with the Holy Abbasid Shrine, the Basra Heritage Center, and the Research Institute of the Qur’an and Hadith
According to the Public Relations Office of the Research Institute of the Qur’an and Hadith, the scientific seminar“The Heritage of the Imami School in Basra until the End of the Fifth Century”will be held in collaboration with the Basra Heritage Center affiliated with the Abbasid Shrine, on January 2–3 in the city of Basra, Iraq. This academic event will be dedicated to examining the scientific and cultural legacy of the Shi‘a community in Basra up to the end of the fifth century AH, with the participation of distinguished professors and researchers from Iran and Iraq.
The Research Institute of the Qur’an and Hadith, as a pioneering academic institution in Qur’anic and Hadith studies, will play a central role in this conference. Six scholarly papers will be presented by its faculty members on topics such as: authentication of jurisprudential narrations, re-reading of doctrinal Shi‘ism, the role of Imami poets in promoting the school of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), development of Qur’anic sciences, the scholarly heritage of Abdulaziz ibn Yahya al-Jaludi, and the position of Basra’s scholars in theological and exegetical fields.
This scientific event is being held upon the proposal of the Abbasid Shrine authorities and with the approval of the President of the Research Institute of the Qur’an and Hadith, Hujjat al-Islam Dr. Berenjkar. His prominent role in guiding and supporting this seminar continues his previous efforts in organizing academic meetings such as the Theological School of Hillah (in cooperation with the Hillah Heritage Center) and the Theological School of Kufa (in cooperation with the Kufa Heritage Center). These initiatives highlight the Institute’s commitment to supporting active centers in the international arena and expanding research interactions across the Islamic world.
