The book “Ethical Theories in the Mirror of Reason and Religion”, authored by a group of researchers, has been published by the Quran and Hadith Research Institute.

According to the Public Relations Office of the Quran and Hadith Research Institute, rational and revelation-based examination of ethical theories within the religious culture is essential. The authors of this work aimed, alongside presenting the well-known exposition of each prevalent ethical theory, to critically evaluate them. Features of this book include precise interpretation, rational assessment, alignment with religious texts, a consistent methodological approach, and a critical perspective.

The ethical theories examined in this book are: Virtue Ethics, Deontology, Divine Command Theory, Ethical Egoism, Altruism, and Utilitarianism.

This book is a collection of essays in normative ethics that, while introducing and explaining some of the prevalent ethical theories, seeks to evaluate them and present an Islamic perspective. Ethical theories are categorized under the three main approaches in normative ethics: Virtue Ethics, Deontology, and Teleology, with related essays grouped under each category.

Accordingly, the book is organized into seven essays as follows:
